In Paints

SBP’s Ultramarine Blue Pigment can be employed in all types of finish both in indoor as well as outdoor application and it is a tribute to the unique colour of Ultramarine. A general application is use of Ultramarine Blue for colour correction of the White paints.

Ultramarine Blue is a very useful paint pigment for almost all type of surface coatings. The general class of stoving enamels is another case where the pigments can be useful, both for the ease of dispersion and heat stability. Where these are used for external work, the best quality stoving finish can give chemical resistance to acid attack, and a notable application here is in “flamboyant” effect which can be achieved using a lightly pigmented Ultramarine film over an aluminum undercoat. Machinery finishes and toy enamel, where alkali resistance & lack of toxicity are needed Ultramarine blue is popularly used.

Cellulose pencil lacquers are often required to be formulated from non toxic components and here Ultramarine blue is very popular.

The transparency of Ultramarine in oily media is due to the refractive index of the pigment (1.51) being very close to that of these bases.

Distempers and water paints of all types have since long been pigmented with Ultramarine Blue. Ultramarine pigments are also very popular in powder coating due to its high heat stability.
